Frequently asked questions

Answers to some common queries, please call us if you don't find the answer to your question below.

Why do I need a NICEIC test carried out?

With regards to a Periodic Test Inspection which is carried out on an existing installation that has been carried out by others, this certificate proves that the electrical installation complies with the relevant standards and is electrically safe for the client to use.
Any faults or remedial works required will be highlighted on our test certificate.

Periodic inspections are the most common due to 'Homebuyer's Reports', rental requirement and insurance purposes, these are a necessity when people need to know the standard of the installation. This may influence their decision when buying a property due to the costs involved with the remedial works. More importantly than the cost, you could have a dangerous installation.

With regards to NICEIC Completion Certificates these are completed by ourselves for works we have carried out; e.g. re-wires, fire alarms and minor works.

How long does the test take?

Depending on the size of the flat/house between 2-4 hours - obviously the larger the house/flat the more time it will take.

How much do you charge?

Again that depends on the size of the flat/house from £95.00 for a 1-2 bed flat to £130.00
for a 4 bedroom house. All prices exclude VAT.

How long until I get my certificate?

By return upon full payment.

What happens if the test certificate highlights any problems?

The 2nd page of the certificate, section F lists down all remedial works required with a code. Works or non compliancy found on the electrical system are coded between 1-4 as to the scale of each problem, 4 being more problematic. We can provide costs as necessary for this.
